Well-Valve Rupture: (US Coast Guard / ES&H in Lafitte, LA) Aug-2010 / 650K
A supply barge traveling the inland waterways in South Louisiana rammed an oil pipeline valve causing the line to rupture and crude to spill into the surrounding marsh. Lemoine deployed over 30 response personnel and equipment to the site for over a month to contain the damage. Over 2 miles of absorbent boom was deployed, oil skimmers along with vacuum recovery systems were incorporated and recovered oil was transported to barges for off-loading. Two decontamination sites were established for daily decon activities of equipment and personnel.

Benzene Discharge: (Dow Chemical, St. Charles, LA) May 2008 / 200K
A rupture in the Plant’s main chemical tank farm at the facility in Hahnville, La. released the hazardous chemical Benzene. The runoff contaminated the tank farm and the adjoining pipe rack areas.
Lemoine was called in to contain and remediate the damage, provide hauling resources and dispose of the material. The Project was extremely labor intensive due to the location of the spill, which did not allow for the use of heavy equipment. The entire site was backfilled and graded for drainage.
